The Red-winged Blackbird is one of the most abundant birds in North America. I don’t remember seeing any until a few years ago when I took a boat trip to Ship Island in Mississippi. They look all black until you notice the red and yellow stipe across their wings. It is very distinctive. I spotted these two birds at the Magnolia Landfill. One is a juvenile and has not turned all black yet.
