Gardenias in Bloom

After 30 years, my gardenia bushes still bloom each spring. My grandmother, Karkie, rooted some sprigs from her garden in Atmore and gave them to me to plant in my yard when I built my house. The birds love to perch in both bushes while waiting to visit my feeders. A lot of them are Northern Cardinals and since people believe cardinals represent lost loved ones, I get a double reminder of my grandmother when I view the bushes through my back window. They normally bloom around my mom’s birthday so I always tell her that my maternal grandmother is sending her flowers for her birthday.
